THE JOYS AND SORROWS OF THE AFRICAN UNION (AU)

THE JOYS AND SORROWS OF THE AFRICAN UNION (AU)

I am AU
I am 50 years old although I am a millennial child
My maiden name was the Organization of African Unity (OAU)
I was despised by my contemporaries in my infancy but they cannot deny that I have succeeded in decolonizing all my children from their taskmasters.

Today, I am still striving to making my age-old visions of uniting my children and shelving them from neocolonization of all colours and forms
I appreciate that the attitudes of my children have been influenced by the relics of the Indirect Rule and the Policy of Assimilation tactics of their taskmasters but they are gradually seeing the African light
The passions and visions of my illustrious creators like Kwame Nkrumah and Haille Salassie are still with me but I can only work through my living children - they must awake!
The journey has been long but my passions keep on increasing
My children will definitely enjoy the fruits of my seeds, the dividends of my sweats and my shed blood if they pay attention to my visions and wisdom.

Tell Ghana, Nigeria and Zimbabwe that they should be extra careful.
Tell the new African Court to learn from the mistakes of its predecessor in the case of Michelot Yogogombaye v Senegal
Tell the leaders of my children that their divisive tendencies keep on grieving me – Why should they love their taskmasters more than their kins?
Tell the leaders of my children that they should demonstrate real leadership always and shun their attitude of acting decisively to deal with their own challenges only after some exertion of pressure from their taskmasters
Tell them that they should celebrate and manifest their God-given uniqueness and stop copying their taskmasters blindly – original, they must!
Oh! Only if the leaders of my children will listen their destiny will blossom!

THE MATHEMATICS OF SIN

THE MATHEMATICS OF SIN

The world of mathematics has many principles
The principles obviously have universal application
They are also doubtlessly applicable to every circumstance or situation.

Arithmetic is the basic branch of mathematics that deals with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division are always neutral to their applicable circumstances, problems, or situations
They therefore perform their specific tasks without fear or favour to either a positive situation or a negative situation
Multiplication for instance will multiply death if it is allowed to apply itself to it.

Sin is the transgression of a divine law
The ordinary man says it is all about missing God’s standard relating to a particular situation
One’s inability to meet God’s standard in a particular situation will negatively add, subtract, multiply, or divide that person’s uncomfortable situation or blessings
Therefore sin always harms the sinner through stealing, destruction or killing!

Sin and real righteousness are two opposing forces
Sin ultimately reproaches any persons but real righteousness always exalts
Sin incubates or inspires negatives but righteousness justifies right attitudes
Sin derogates but real righteousness dignifies
The arithmetic is always neutral to both real righteousness and sin.

THE WOES OF OUR JUDGES

  THE WOES OF OUR JUDGES

Pilate said to Him, “What is the truth?” – John 18:38a (NKJV).

Justice Barbados Ngoromah is known for his passion for freedom and justice. His constant strives to achieve excellence and integrity in all his official duties and responsibilities is also obvious to every person of average intelligence. No wonder he has risen from a magistrate to be the presiding judge of the Supreme Council of the Divided State of Honeyland. Two emerging influential leaders in the country recently had some duel. Thank God, wisdom was allowed to prevail over emotions so the case was referred to the council for peaceful adjudication. The two leaders command a wide following and each of them and their followers are very interested in the outcome of the case. The outcome of the case has the potential to either worsen the perceived division in the country or unite the people for leap advancement.

Justice Ngoromah and his other council members are being eyed by the people of Honeyland. The actions and inactions of the council members, in the course of the adjudication process, are unnecessarily scrutinized with the divisive and biased mindset of some of the citizens of the country. Some of the disciples of the main leaders demonstrate in their utterances that they have neither shelved nor separated their views from that of their dogmatic loyalty to their masters. One would have thought that they would take a cue from their masters and allowed wisdom to override their emotions and biases because of the volatile nature of the case.

The facts of the case is slightly different from the biblical account involving a decision to free either a convicted criminal or Jesus. That case was an either or affair. One person was to be freed and the other was to be crucified. Barabbas was a notorious robber but Jesus was a respected righteous leader. Pilate was by custom supposed to release either of them. Although Pilate discerned the innocence of Jesus he was nevertheless influenced by public outcry to deliver Him to the people to be crucified. However, the case before the council is somewhat different from the one that was before Pilate. The significant distinction is that the instant case is not necessarily an either or affair. Besides, the public, unlike in the biblical account, is divided in their opinions and expectations.

Will Justice Ngoromah and his other council members cave in to any of the divisive outcry of the dogmatic loyalists of the two main leaders? If not, will their prudent decision appeal to any person of average intelligence since truth is simple? Undoubtedly, Justice Ngoromah and his other council members need divine wisdom and the courage to completely and effectually adjudicate upon the matters in issue. I will therefore urge the people of Honeyland to shelve their biases and unite in their prayers for the council members to deliver ‘Solomonic’ judgment speedily. More importantly, I call on the two leaders to appeal to their dogmatic disciples to allow wisdom to override their emotions. I pray accordingly.

PATIENCE VERSUS PROCRASTINATION

PATIENCE VERSUS PROCRASTINATION

While we are postponing, life speeds by – Lucius Annaeus Seneca.

Patience is both a great virtue and a great weapon, it moves mountains. Patience has variously been defined as the ability to endure waiting or delay. It is thus the product of a genuine faith. Besides, patience has the capacity to perfect and complete any godly thing. In other words, patience produces perfect works. Perfect works are complete and entire, lacking (wanting) nothing; ask Abraham and Job. Show me a person who is full of faith and patience and I will show you a perfect person. This is because every genuine faith endures tribulations, “knowing that tribulation produces perseverance (patience); and perseverance, character; and character, hope… (and) hope does not disappoint” – Romans 5:4-5(NKJV).

Patience is, however, not procrastination; it is a diligent worker! This means that patience is not indolence. Patience moves mountains because it works, even in the face of fiercest difficulties, to attain its goals. Thus mountains (difficulties) are never insurmountable stumbling blocks to patience. Besides, patience is the sacred secret of all real victors of any race. The race of life is full of tribulations and it takes only patient participants to press towards their goals for earthly and Heavenly prizes. Patience always seeks to meet a particular attainable goal in the midst of all odds. Therefore patience is never procrastination because whilst the latter gives excuses for its inactions the former presses on despite the presence of even real excuses.

“Procrastination,” so goes a right saying, “is the thief of time.” Time is the most precious asset of mankind. It goes without saying that procrastination dishonestly appropriates the treasures of its victims. God has given each of us some unique talents and abilities. The raw material for manifesting the products of such talents and abilities is time. Thus procrastination cripples the talents and abilities of its victims because it steals their indispensable raw material (time). Studies have shown that of over 25,000 men and women who had experienced failure disclosed the fact that lack of decision was near the head of the list of the 30 major causes of failure.

George S. Clason wrote in his book, The Richest Man in Babylon, “The spirit of procrastination is within all men. We desire riches; yet how often when opportunity doth appear before us, that spirit of procrastination from within doth urge various delays in our acceptance. In listening to it we do become our own worst enemies”. Truly, no person can arrive at a full measure of success until that person has completely crushed the spirit of procrastination within that person. Arkad, the richest man in Babylon, testified: “During my long life I have watched generation following generation, marching forward along those avenues of trade, science and learning that lead to success in life. Opportunities came to all these men. Some grasped theirs and moved steadily to the gratification of their deepest desires, but the majority hesitated, faltered and fell behind.” Napoleon Hill in his think and grow rich stated that, “Procrastination, the opposite of decision, is a common enemy that everybody must (practically) conquer.”Are you dancing with your current opportunities or you’re procrastinating? Remember, “Opportunity waits for no man.”
