People-pleasers and eye-service persons have insincere hearts.

Our love for God is demonstrated through our service to people in accordance to our God-given assignments.

Real love is holistic and mature.

Real wives are submissive to their husbands.

One of the greatest quality of a real man is faithfulness.

One of the greatest gift children can give to their parents is honour.

Inability to discern God’s purpose concerning any situation is a sign of foolishness.

Real wives and husbands relate to each other the same way they ought to relate to God.

Wise people are circumspect in the steps they take and also make the best use of time.

The path of wisdom always radiates glory.

Real giving is rooted in a voluntary decision.

Repeated offences destroy sound relationships.

Abundant wealth is not one of the core indicators of a fulfilled life.

A person’s heart is always located at where that person stores her treasure.

Having sound relationship with others and persistence in one’s dealings are central to attaining that person’s godly desires.

Guarding your heart requires shunning wrong communication, focusing on your God-given purpose and always thinking through your steps.

WHEN DOES HARD-WORK BECOME LAZINESS?

WHEN DOES HARD-WORK BECOME LAZINESS?

“I am busy because I am vain. I want to appear important. Significant...I am busy because I am lazy. I indolently let others decide what I will do instead of resolutely deciding myself. It was a favorite theme of C.S. Lewis that only lazy people work hard. By lazily abdicating the essential work of deciding and directing, establishing values and setting goals, other people do it for us” – Eugene Peterson.

Most dictionaries define hard-work as working tirelessly with energy, commitment and perseverance. The Concise Oxford English Dictionary (Thumb index edition) in contrast defines laziness as unwillingness to work or use energy or showing a lack of effort or care. A closer reading about hard-work and laziness from world of dictionaries suggest that hardworking and laziness are two parallel rivers. However, C.S Lewis opines that “only lazy people work hard”. The contextual meaning of C.S Lewis’ statement reveals that being hardworking in nonessential matters(work) is a form of laziness. I define essential work to encompass deciding, directing, establishing values, and setting and executing goals in relation to one’s God-given purpose or assignment. For Campbell Scott, “Working hard is great, being lazy sometimes is great, but failed potential is the worst.”

Idikoko was employed in 2016 as the General Manager of Money Bank. The bank has million employees majority of whom are required to daily visit customers of the bank in their shops and offices to receive deposits. Official records of Money Bank reveal that Idikoko has, within the first quarter of 2017, collected more deposits from such customers of the bank than any other employee. All the other employees have tipped Idikoko as the one likely to be crowned the best employee of the first quarter. Surprisingly, however, the Board of Directors of Money Bank in their recent board meeting terminated the employment of Idikoko for causing the bank to suffer some administrative lapses.

Idikoko met me last weekend in Accra, Ghana, at a leadership workshop. Being a lawyer, he sought my legal opinion about the fairness or otherwise of his employment termination. After further enquiries, I told him that his termination was fair because he was working hard outside his job description as a General Manager. Idikoko was thus a lazy General Manager hence his dismissal. I admonished Idikoko not to be afraid in working hard but he should be afraid of working hard on things that do no matter. The only things that matter in this life are things that are central to our God-given purpose. Are you working hard in what matters not?

I AM MORE THAN A CHEVENING SCHOLAR

My name is Francis Nniah Kofi Ngoromah                            

My track records show I have a great leadership potential

The Commonwealth and Foreign Office once recognised my potential and invested in me. That recognition paved way for me to stay and study in one of the best universities in the UK. And I graduated, obtained a Master Degree, became a Chevening Alumni and returned home.

But having a Master Degree does not necessarily make me a real leader. Because leadership is neither in academic qualifications nor in positional or functional titles. Being a Chevening Scholar or a Chevening Alumni does not make me a real leader either. Because it may be a mere prestige and a mere self-actualization clinging tantrum.

I am more than a Chevening scholar; I am a potential real leader

I must arise and shine because I am now a certified Chevening scholar

I must rise to the demands of a Chevening Alumni and shine brighter and brighter

My community, nation and the globe are waiting for my total manifestation

I must begin to manifest in my ghetto, locality and spread globally like a rushing stream

I must from today examine my commitment to the Chevening Alumni Association

I must evaluate my membership or leadership and rise to the challenges of the Association.

Stand up and be counted my fellow Scholars

Why are you so silent and sitting on the fence?

Yes, the vision is for an appointed time but we must work it out daily

We must work it out while it is day because the night is dawning and dawning

What pace are we setting? What legacy are we leaving for future scholars?

Can we bear the guilt and shame if we fail to lay the pioneering foundations?

How’ll we answer if future scholars tearfully demand explanation for side-lining the vision? We are destined to step out and manifest our leadership potentials; no more hiding!

Understanding facilitates obedience or accomplishment.

Life and peace are preserves of people who are mindful of the Holy Spirit.

It takes courage, divine power and self-control to optimize a person’s talents and gifts.

Persons who give themselves to inequity and wickedness will eventually be held by cords of sin.

God’s thoughts and ways are among the key factors that distinguish Him from human beings.

HOW ARE THE MIGHTY IN GHANA FARING?

Ghana is blessed not only with natural resources but also with mighty personalities.

Mother Ghana can today boast of having several mighty sons and daughters.

Her mighty sons and daughters are strong leaders in their various fields of endeavour.

Namely the clergy, erudite judges, astute politicians, brilliants academics and splendid royals.

But how are the mighty sons and daughters of Mother Ghana faring?

How on earth should some of our judges trade their wisdom and nobility for goats and bread.

Our clergymen and spiritual leaders, when did the Great Commission become Money Commission? Your salt and light is absent in our market centres, offices and homes.

You political leaders, how can you fight the menace of corruption in Ghana if you are still kissing kickbacks and using your political positions to promote your personal and partisan interests?

Why are our police officers become tax collectors on our highways?

When did Ghana Police Service become Ghana Revenue Authority?

Are taking monies for police bails and collecting road tolls part of civilized policing?

Some of our traditional leaders are trading their crowns and thrones for whiskey and pito.

Chief-who-is-who, why have you become a galamseyer, a shadow politician, and complicit in multiple sales of land and senseless conflicts?

Our brilliant academics, it is high time you stopped making noise about your qualifications.

Let your high academic portfolios purify the ills our ailing Ghana.

Why are you turning our educational institutions into political playgrounds?

Motherland Ghana is wailing.

Her mighty children are faring and failing badly in all fields of endeavour.

Badly in hypocrisy, corruption, nepotism, greed, injustice, oppression and wickedness!
